FLUECHEM WELCOMES BACK ONE OF ITS KEY CRUISE VESSELS FROM THE CARIBBEAN BY SUPPLYING 150,000L OF AUS40 IN SOUTHAMPTON READY FOR A NEW SEASON IN NORTHERN EUROPE

After a successful period supplying multiple cruise ships in the Caribbean, Fluechem is delighted to follow them to their new locations keeping them compliant throughout the year wherever they are across the globe. Today one such example being the supply of 150,000L of AUS40 in Southampton to one of our key customer cruise vessels arriving in the UK for the coming season in the soon to be extended Northern Europe, Emission Control Area (ECA).

Global Compliance

In an ever changing world of environmental compliance, best practice and societal expectations, Fluechem’s operations group work with a number of cruise fleet managers and technical teams to ensure their vessels remain compliant with the latest and future standards detailed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee wherever they are in the world with an expertise on supporting the reduction of sulphur and nitrous oxides.

Whilst the focus has been making the supply of emission reduction chemicals available in the more established North American, Baltic and North Sea ECA’s, Fluechem has already built up an established network to supply the chemicals in the newer ECA’s; Mediterranean (2025) Norwegian Sea and Canadian Arctic (2026/2027) and is also preparing for the recently adopted North-East Atlantic Ocean ECA (2027/2028)

Cost Effective Supply

By looking ahead at cruise vessel itineraries, the Fluechem team are able to map out product requirements and identify ports where they can be supplied to minimise the operational impact and ensure global compliance whilst using the most cost effective option.

Such an example being today in Southampton, where over two port visits, we supplied 150,000L of AUS40 in bulk to one of our key customer cruise vessels in Southampton which had arrived in the UK from the Caribbean where product costs were higher due to the extended supply chain and logistics risks. Scheduling supply in Southampton reduced risk and allowed savings of >50% when compared to the Caribbean.

On Site Attendance

Every delivery, wherever it is in the world follows the same ISO 9001 delivery process from product assurance and testing through to on time delivery and customer feedback all within our ISO 14001 environmental operating envelope.

Fluechem’s values also requires that all of our employees, whatever department, attend deliveries for familiarisation and also ensure our processes are being effectively implemented. On this occasion our Finance Director Charlene, visited the port to gain direct customer feedback and ensure we were delivering “Upper quartile sustainable HSEQ and customer service performance”

“Attending this delivery allows me a better understanding of vessel operational requirements especially the coordination of 150,000L of AUS40 to one vessel by six fully loaded trucks” said Charlene Stephen. “As Head of Compliance and Risk Management it is important that I personally check our deliveries meet our Integrated Business Management System ISO standards as well as our HSEQ and customer service performance goals”
